The Skandia Gateway project is making significant progress, with substantial advancements in strengthening and developing the quay and terminal area at the Port of Gothenburg. In the first phase, the Western Quay Section, we are carrying out an extensive reconstruction of approximately 700 meters of quay, reinforcing and adapting it to meet future demands. Around 15,000 square meters of terminal space are being excavated, and approximately 1,500 piles are being driven into the ground to provide a stable foundation. Additionally, the crane rail is being extended by 500 meters, enabling the handling of the largest container cranes – a key investment to enhance the port’s capacity and efficiency.
The existing quay edge is being replaced with a stronger structure designed to withstand future challenges. To meet the site’s unique needs, we are utilizing two types of piles: concrete piles for stability and durability, and steel piles for added flexibility and strength where required.
The project is progressing at a strong pace, and we look forward to seeing how the development of the Skandia Gateway will further strengthen the Port of Gothenburg’s position as a strategic hub in the global logistics chain.
